Operation of the Bently Nevada 3500/25 Keyphasor Module

Operation of the Bently Nevada 3500/25 Keyphasor Module

The Bently Nevada 3500/25 Keyphasor module , developed by Bently Nevada, serves as an enhanced keyphasor amplitude module. This half-height, dual-channel module is responsible for transmitting keyphasor signals to monitor modules within a 3500 rack. It achieves this by detecting the alignment of the keyphasor marks on the shaft with the keyphasor sensor, using magnetic sensors or proximity probes. Subsequently, it converts the input signal into a digital keyphasor signal.

Operation of the Bently Nevada 3500/25 Keyphasor Module:

  1. Paired configuration is required in two adjacent monitor locations in either upper/lower half-slot positions or two consecutive half-slot positions. Four Keyphasor modules will provide four output channels and accept four primary and four standby input channels (one for each module).
  2. Configuring three Keyphasor modules, two coupled, and one unpaired is also possible. Users can configure a single unpaired keyphasor in this way (ordering two 2-channel modules or one 1-channel and one 2-channel option).

The Bently Nevada 3500/25 has specific input signal specifications:

  • Magnetic pickups or proximity probe sensors have the capability to transmit up to two sensor signals to each keyphasor module.
  • For non-isolated I/O modules, the input signal range should fall within +0.8 V to 21.0 V. In the case of isolated I/O modules, the acceptable input signal range is +5 V to -11 V.

It's crucial to note that signals exceeding these specified ranges may be subject to internal module limitations. Additionally, passive magnetic pickups with a 3.3 Hz frequency require shaft speeds that exceed 200 rpm to function effectively.
