M580 Ethernet and I/O Architecture

The BMEP582040S provides one Ethernet TCP/IP service port and two Ethernet TCP/IP device network ports. The two device ports support the remote I/O network for M580 remote drops. The processor supports up to 8 remote I/O stations, 64 distributed devices, and 16 CIP Safety I/O devices.

Local processing capacity includes up to 2048 discrete I/O and 512 analog I/O. Supported application-specific functions include counter processing, motion control, SSI encoder handling, accurate time stamping, serial link functions, and HART communication.

The processor includes separate process and safety memory areas. Memory consists of 8 MB program RAM, 768 kB process data RAM, 10 kB system memory, 2 MB safety program memory, 512 kB safety data memory, and 4 GB expandable flash storage.
