S800 I/O High Side Output Protection and Diagnostics

The DO815 uses eight 24 VDC current sourcing output channels implemented with protected high side drivers. Each channel integrates short circuit protection, overload protection, open load detection during active output state, EMC protection components, inductive load suppression, and optical isolation.

The output channels are arranged into two isolated groups containing four channels each. The module provides output status LEDs, channel error flags, and supervision functions for short circuit, overload, undervoltage, and open load conditions.

The ABB S800 I/O module communication behavior includes OSP (Output Set as Predetermined) handling, which transfers outputs to configured states when communication errors occur. Two output fault handling modes are supported: automatic reset mode and fault latching mode.
