The Honeywell TC-PRR021 is a two-slot Redundancy Module (RM) designed to support controller redundancy in Honeywell C200 and C200E control systems. Installed in a redundant chassis pair, it provides the hardware interface required for coordination between redundant controllers. The module uses a dedicated redundancy cable to connect the corresponding modules in the two chassis.
Function and System Role
The TC-PRR021 is part of the Honeywell Experion chassis-based control architecture. It supports a redundant controller configuration in which two C200/C200E controller chassis operate as a primary and backup pair.
The redundancy modules establish the connection between the two chassis through a dedicated redundancy cable. This arrangement supports controller redundancy rather than redundant field I/O or power regulation.
Redundancy Cable and Status Monitoring
Each redundant chassis requires its own TC-PRR021 module. The two modules are connected using a dedicated fiber-optic redundancy cable. Honeywell documentation identifies the following cable options:
- GN-KRR011: 1 m redundancy cable.
- GN-KRR031: 3 m redundancy cable.
- GN-KRR101: 10 m redundancy cable.
The module also provides a Status Contact Interface on applicable hardware versions. Its optically isolated solid-state relay contact remains closed when the module operates as the primary and opens when it changes to secondary/backup status or loses power. This contact can be connected to an external monitoring circuit.

Installation and Configuration
The TC-PRR021 is installed as a pair, with one module in each chassis of the Redundant Chassis Pair (RCP). Honeywell specifies the following default slot positions, using zero-based numbering:
- 10-slot and 17-slot chassis: slots 5 and 6.
- Other chassis models: slots 4 and 5.
Both chassis must contain the corresponding C200/C200E control processors. The redundancy cable connects the two RM modules, and the selected cable length must match the physical distance between chassis.
A redundant controller chassis must not contain I/O modules. The I/O modules are installed in separate remote I/O chassis to avoid potential data loss during controller switchover.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does the TC-PRR021 require a second redundancy module?
A: Yes. A redundant controller configuration requires two TC-PRR021 modules, one in each chassis, connected by a compatible redundancy cable.
Q: Can the TC-PRR021 be installed in any chassis slot?
A: No. Honeywell specifies default slot positions according to chassis size. The 10-slot and 17-slot chassis use slots 5 and 6, while other chassis models use slots 4 and 5. Confirm the complete chassis configuration before installation.
Q: Does the TC-PRR021 provide an external controller status signal?
A: Applicable versions provide an optically isolated solid-state relay contact through the Status Contact Interface. The contact indicates primary, secondary/backup, or loss-of-power status through its open/closed state. Some earlier hardware versions do not include this connector.
