Product Description

The 140CRA93100C by Schneider Electric is a legacy Remote I/O (RIO) drop adaptor designed for the Modicon Quantum control platform. This module enables deterministic, high-speed communication between a central Quantum processor and distributed I/O racks using a 75-ohm coaxial network.

Although now discontinued, it remains widely deployed in existing systems where stable coaxial RIO architectures are required. The module supports up to 27 I/O modules per drop and provides robust diagnostics to ensure reliable operation in industrial environments.

It has been superseded by the Modicon X80 Ethernet-based RIO adapters such as the BMECRA31210C series.

Key Functional Characteristics

The 140CRA93100C serves as the communication interface between the controller and remote I/O stations. Its role includes:

  • Establishing a high-speed RIO communication link over coaxial infrastructure
  • Managing distributed I/O racks with deterministic data exchange
  • Performing onboard diagnostics including memory integrity and communication health
  • Supporting system startup validation and runtime monitoring
